When Is Tornado Season in Kansas?

There are two major tornado seasons in Kansas: the first season begins in early May and ends in late June, and the second season starts in November.

Tornadoes could potentially strike anywhere in the country, at any time of the year. According to meteorologists, this is due to air masses moving north into the Midwest and combining with other air masses that move south from Canada. These collisions have the potential to form tornadoes most commonly during the spring. Their frequency begins to decrease in the middle of the summer as the air mass moves north into the states near the Great Lakes.
