What Organs Are in the Pelvic Cavity?

The pelvic cavity contains the urinary bladder, the colon, the rectum and reproductive organs. Female reproductive organs in the pelvic cavity include the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes. In men, the prostate is in the pelvic cavity.

The pelvic cavity also contains many muscles, nerves, arteries and veins. It is bound by the bones of the pelvis and the muscles of the pelvis and lower abdomen. Nerves in the pelvic cavity include the sacral plexus, splanchnic and femoral nerves. Arteries include the internal iliac, median sacral and ovarian arteries.

The pelvis is divided into two parts: the greater pelvis, which is part of the abdominopelvic cavity, and the lesser pelvis, or true pelvis.
