Nitrogen can be found in all living organisms on Earth while also being present in soil, water and air. It is an important component in biological compounds found all throughout nature.
Nitrogen gas, also referred to as N2 on the periodic table of elements makes up 78.1 percent of the Earth’s air. Regular soil contains various amounts of nitrogen, which is actually used as fertilizer for all different types of plants found throughout nature. There is also nitrogen present in water, which benefits both aquatic and land plants and animals. While nitrogen is essential to all living organisms on Earth, it can be dangerous in large amounts for humans, animals and plant life, too.
