Lithium has a total of four neutrons. The element also has an atomic number of 3 and an atomic weight of 6.94. It is found in the alkali metal group on the periodic table and has the chemical symbol of Li.
Lithium is a silver-colored element that also includes three protons and three electrons. The number of protons and electrons in any given element is the same as its atomic number. The number of neutrons in an element can be found by subtracting the number of protons from the rounded atomic mass of the element. For lithium, the rounded atomic mass is seven, and seven minus three equals four neutrons.
