Are Insects Considered Animals?

Insects belong to the largest phylum of the animal kingdom and are called arthropods. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, insects are members of the Arthropoda phylum and make up 84 percent of all the known animals on Earth.
National Geographic lists "bugs" as one of its categories under "Animals." According to Wikipedia, insects belong to "the most diverse groups of animals on the planet, including more than a million described species." Most of these species are insects. Other species of the Arthropoda phylum include crabs and lobsters. Insects can be aquatic or terrestrial, while many species of insects have adapted to flight. No matter their habitat or behavior, all insects belong to the Arthropoda phylum of the animal kingdom.
