To convert moles into grams, determine the number of moles preset and the molar mass of the compound. Multiply the number of moles by the molar mass to obtain the final answer in grams.
- Determine the number of moles
The number of moles present in a compound is often given to the student in the problem. If it is not, then it can be found by looking at the chemical reaction and using the stoichiometric coefficients.
- Find the molar mass
For the compound in question, calculate the molar mass by using a periodic table.
- Multiply the moles by the molar mass
Multiply the number of moles in the compound by the molar mass of the compound. The moles cancel out, and the final answer is in grams.
