The planet Uranus is sometimes referred to by it’s nickname, the “Bull’s Eye” planet. The belts and zones, along with the rings around the planet, make Uranus appear similar to a bull’s eye.
Uranus was discovered in 1871 by William Herschel. It is the seventh planet from the sun and the smallest of the solar system’s four Jovian planets, or gas giants. It is a blue-green planet, made up mostly of water, methane and ammonia ice. The core is magnesium-silicate and iron. Uranus is four times the size of Earth; because of its distance from the sun, it takes approximately 84 Earth years for Uranus to travel its orbit once.
