Water is an extremely precious resource to life on Earth. It’s needed for growing food, keeping clean, providing power, controlling fire and staying alive; there can be no life without water. Humans should not waste water for a number of reasons: to reduce pollution and health hazards, save money on water and energy bills, prolong the life of the current water supply and facilities for wastewater treatment.

Water conservation minimizes its wastage. Conserving water means using it wisely, being mindful of every drop. Reduced water wastage can help ensure that people continue to enjoy the benefits of pure and clean water.

Water is essential to agriculture. With the unprecedented threats of global warming, using less water can greatly affect the availability of this essential commodity for growing food crops.

About 97 percent of the Earth’s water is salt water, which is not suitable for drinking. The small proportion of water available for drinking must be used economically. Minimizing water wastage helps cut down costs on water and energy bills. Using water conservatively can also save money in taxes to the municipal system that would have been required to put up larger conservation or harvesting systems. Using less water also prolongs the life of water in reservoirs.
