What Are the Natural Resources of Mexico?

Mexico’s natural resources include silver, oil, copper and agricultural crops. The Central American country is one of the largest oil producers in the world and the third largest producer in the Americas. It also has the fourth largest shale gas deposits on the planet.
Mexico’s primary agricultural products include sugarcane, wheat, tomatoes and oranges. Wheat, sorghum and corn are grown for domestic consumption. The country also produces rice, pineapples, bananas, mangos and cacao. Sugar and coffee are grown for export. The United States is a main importer of Mexico’s agricultural goods.
Mexico’s land also supports diverse forms of plant and animal life and provides a haven for migrating animals fleeing from extreme weather.
