Reynolds Metals popularized aluminum foil in North America in 1947, and the material replaced tin foils as a kitchen wrap, as the latter often gave stored food an off taste. Contemporary Reynolds kitchen-use aluminum foil is resistant to moisture, odor and grease. The company merged with Hefty in 2010 to form Reynolds Consumer Products, which is headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois, as of 2015.
