The most common natural resources in Texas are oil and livestock, although Texas is also rich in lumber and a leading cotton producer. Texas is the second largest state in the United States by land area, making it a large source of a variety of natural resources.

Texas is most well known for its production of fossil fuels. Besides sitting atop 529 million barrels worth of oil reserves, Texas also produces coal and features a large repository of natural gas reserves. Construction materials such as cement are also produced in Texas, as well as many types of minerals and precious stones, such as silver, uranium, and gemstones.
