Is Iron a Good Conductor?

Iron is a good conductor of electricity but not the best. Iron is a metal, which makes it a much better conductor than an insulator, but different metals have different conductivity levels. Iron is a relatively cheap metal and is widely used in products requiring conductance.

Materials are ranked according to their electrical resistivity. A lower electrical resistivity indicates that a material is a better conductor. Silver and copper are the best metal conductors of electricity, while titanium and stainless steel are the worst metals; iron falls roughly in the middle of these two groups.
