What Are Examples of Speed?
The movement of common objects, including motor vehicles, dogs and humans, are all examples of speed. Speed refers to the rate at which something moves as well as the distance covered in a specific amount of time. Speed is expressed in daily life by the movements of many types of objects, and varies with several factors, such as the size of objects and surface on which they are traveling.
Speed is a force that changes instantly, and is dynamic rather than constant. Objects that move with higher speeds are considered to have higher rates of speed than those that move more slowly. Speed is only one factor in explaining movement in the context of physics, however. Speed accounts only for the volume or magnitude of movement, and does not take into account other factors, such as direction or external factors like air speed, temperature and winds, which may all influence speed. Speed is considered to be a scalar quantity and is expressed in physics with the symbol “v.” Speed can be determined using a simple formula, which is the difference between distance covered by a moving object and the time it takes to cover that distance. Speed can then be expressed in several units, including kilometers or miles per hour.
