An average, healthy weight for a man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall is between 130 and 173.5 pounds. Healthy body weights are determined by calculating a person’s body mass index, or BMI, which relates height and weight.

There are four categories that BMI ranges fall into. If a person’s BMI is less than 18.5, he is considered underweight. For a 5-foot, 10-inch-tall man, that corresponds to 129 pounds. When someone’s BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, that is a healthy weight. BMI values between 25 and 29.9 are considered overweight and correspond to a range of 174 to 208 pounds in this example. For this same man, a body weight above 208 pounds corresponds to a BMI greater than 30, which is considered obese.
