What Is the Average Temperature on Jupiter?
The planet Jupiter has an average temperature of -238 degrees Fahrenheit, but temperatures can reach as high as 36,000 degrees in its rocky core. There are also clouds on Jupiter that reach temperatures as low as -280 degrees. These clouds cover the the entire planet and most likely consists of ammonia ice crystals that change to ammonia droplets at lower altitudes.
The atmosphere on Jupiter is very dry and dense, and it is made up of a combination of helium and hydrogen and even lesser amounts of ammonia and methane. Jupiter is an extremely windy and unforgiving planet that is constantly subjected to massive counter-clockwise moving storms.
