What Is the Average Speed for a Bike?
The average speed for a bicycle is anywhere between 6.2 mph to 31 mph. The average speed at which one rides a bike is very difficult to calculate because there are so many factors that determine the speed.
The type of bike that a person owns, the distance he is riding, his experience as a cyclist, his age and his overall physical health are just a few of the determining factors of how fast or slow he may ride a bike. An experienced, young, healthy cyclist may be able to reach speeds that average 25 mph. On the other hand, a beginner who may not be in the best of health might only be able to reach a speed of about 10 mph. As with any physical activity, the more that a person works at it, the better he becomes at cycling.
