According to Newton’s Apple, the animal with the longest tail is the male giraffe, or the Giraffa camelopardalis. The people of ancient Rome called this species the camel-leopard. This animal’s tail can grow as long as 8 feet in length.

The female giraffe’s tail might not reach the same length as that of the male. Both male and female giraffes have blunt horns that are covered by skin. The Giraffa camelopardalis also has an impressively long neck.

Another species that has an impressively long tail is the long-tailed pangolin. They are native to parts of Africa. These animals have prehensile tails that are more than half of their total length. The male of the species also has a longer tail than that of the female.
