What Are Almanacs Used For?
Almanacs are used for several purposes, such as predicting astronomical events, supplying historic climate information, forecasting weather patterns and making planting recommendations for farmers. Almanacs provide information based on historical events and present conditions. They contain factual information such as times of sunrise and sunset as well as trivia and folklore.
Some almanacs contain information related to certain regions, such as the schedule for high and low tides in coastal areas. Almanacs may include astronomical sections that contain information on phased of the moon, position of planets and even horoscopes, and they have been printed since 1457 when the first copies were printed in Europe.
