What Do African Wild Dogs Eat?

African wild dogs often eat antelopes, zebras and other animals. The dogs hunt in packs in order to bring down their prey.

African wild dogs roams in a range around 900 square miles in size. They hunt in the mornings and evenings, and the entire pack shares the prey. An adult African wild dog can grow to around 5 feet long and weigh up to 60 lbs. Each pack has an alpha male and alpha female; these two are the only pair that breeds. Females give birth in the spring months and can have litters ranging from six to 12 pups.
