What Is 13:00 in Regular Time?

The time 13:00 in military time translates to 1:00 P.M. in regular time. Military time is based on 24 hours instead of 12 hours that regular time uses.

The time 13:00 is stated as 1300 hours. The clock starts at midnight, with the morning hours through 9:00 usually written and stated with an “0” in front. In other words, 5:00 A.M. is 05:00 or “oh-500 hours.”

The major difference in military and regular time comes after the noon hour. Instead of starting over with 1:00, military time goes to 13:00; instead of 11:00 P.M., military time is 23:00. The military is not the only institution to use this method of keeping time. Governments, hospitals and public transportation use it as well.
