The printing press impacted society by allowing a large amount of written copies to be published at one time. The printing press also lead to the ability to spread information much faster.

The printing press was invented over five-hundred years ago and was the first step in transforming societal literacy. The printing press gave writing a feeling of consistency and changed its look. No longer would different scribes be responsible for writing individual copies of literature. Inconsistent writing and grammar mistakes could be prevented. With language rules being more constant, readers could better interpret what the author was trying to get across in their literature.
