The prices of tickets on the Titanic in 1912 ranged from £870 or $4,350 for a first-class parlor suite to a maximum of £8 or $40 for a third-class passage, according to The Washington Times. A century later, in 2012, those ticket prices equaled a range of $50,000 to $460.
Other services on board the Titanic cost extra, The Washington Times reports. The use of the swimming pool cost 1 schilling, which included the rental of a swimsuit. Passengers sent telegrams for a charge of about $3.12 for the first 10 words. More than 250 telegrams were sent and received before the ship sank on April 15, 1912.
