Who Were Some Famous Leaders of the Iroquois Tribe?

Famous leaders of tribes in the Iroquois confederacy include Tachnechdorus, also called Logan; Joseph Brant and Red Jacket. Some of these leaders were famous for fighting for British and American forces, and some were famous for fighting against them.

Tachnechdorus was from Pennsylvania and was known for his generosity to white settlers until a group of them murdered his family. He then led attacks against British frontier settlements.

Joseph Brant studied with English military officers and fought with England in the war against France and later against American forces. Red Jacket was a chief of the Seneca who worked as a messenger for the British and later fought for the Americans during the Revolutionary War.
