Ancient Spartans lived in houses made of mud bricks and red clay roofs. Spartans constructed simple houses that reflected a simplistic lifestyle instead of showing off possessions.
The main focuses for Spartan warriors were skills and knowledge. Their focus on homes was basic, and their primary concern for these houses was only to provide shelter. There were sparse decorations, and building materials were found around the land. Spartan warriors lived in the barracks throughout their training, which were made of similar materials to houses with less decoration and interior lining. The barracks were places for warriors to reside, where family was not allowed.
