Limestone and coal are some of Tennessee’s main natural resources. Zinc, clay and phosphate rock are also major resources within the state.
Tennessee is also known for its abundance of fertile farmland. Roughly half the state is covered with farmland and the state is rich in beef production. The most common crop found in the area is tobacco. Soybeans, cotton and hay are also produced throughout the state. Water systems, petroleum and natural gas also contribute to the state’s large amount of natural resources. Processed food manufacturing is one of Tennessee’s major economical resources as it aids in the production of beer and soft drinks.
