No one really knows how tall Pepin the Short really was, but it is assumed he was actually quite tall. The Pippin family was actually tall, and the correct title of Pippin the Short was probably misinterpreted.
Pippin the Short should have been called “Pippin the Younger” as he was the youngest in his family. He was King of the Franks from 751 until his death in 768. He was born in 714 and was the first of the Carolingians to become king. During his reign, he worked hard to pass legislation to increase his power and when he died, he was succeeded by his sons.
