What Is the Revolutionary War ABCs?
The Revolutionary War ABC’s is a project that is typically completed by young children in their United States history courses. The project involves finding a word for every letter of the alphabet and relating that word to the Revolutionary War.
This project can then serve as an excellent review and study source for the student. They can review the project at home and in school before tests, exams, quizzes and other research projects. It is also a fun arts and crafts project for many students because it allows them to use their creativity unlike standard worksheets or workbook pages.
The Revolutionary War, or American Revolution, is also known as the war of independence. It was fought between American colonies and the British colonial power. Britain was forcing their political ideas on the colonial subjects and they wanted to lead their own lives with their own government.
The war followed a quick trajectory and by July 4, 1776, Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence was ratified by Congress. Later that month, a large number of British forces arrived in an attempt to crush the rebellion. However, the new Americans fought back and, by 1778, the French had signed a treaty of alliance with the new U.S. This led the American Revolution into a world war territory. A peace treaty was signed between the U.S. and Great Britain in 1783.
