Where Is the Relative Location of India?

India is located in the Northern and Eastern hemispheres. It is located in south central Asia on the region called the Indian subcontinent. The Arabian Sea lies to the west, the Bay of Bengal lies to the east, and the Indian Ocean lies to the south of India.

The neighboring countries to India are Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. India does not share a land border with Sri Lanka, which is an island. The Himalayas lie to the north of India.

India lies between 6 and 35 degrees north latitude. It lies between 68 and 97 degrees east longitude. The Tropic of Cancer, at 23 degrees and 30 minutes, runs right through the center of India.
