Where Is the Oxbow Quadrangle?
The Oxbow Quadrangle is located along the Idaho-Oregon border in the Payette National Forest. The Oxbow Quadrangle is the formal name of a 7.5-minute series topographic map of the region. In the movie “Last of the Dogmen,” the Oxbow quadrangle is located in Montana.
The Payette National Forest is managed by the U.S. Forest Service, and the protected area covers 2.3 million acres in central Idaho. Hell’s Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America, is just west of the forest along the Snake River, which forms Idaho’s border with Oregon.
The Oxbow Quadrangle harbors three fugitives in “Last of the Dogmen.” Tom Berenger plays a cowboy-type character who must track down the three fugitives, who are believed to be descendants of Native American “dog soldiers” from the Cheyenne tribe of the 1860s.
