Two major natural resources found in the southeast U.S. are pine and coal. Coal is mined and used to produce heat, light and various other forms of energy.
Fertile soil is another valuable natural resource in this region of the U.S. This rich soil allows farmers to grow crops which support the life of many people and animals. Agriculture is a large part of the region since warm temperatures and heavy rainfalls allow the crops to flourish. Bodies of water and forested land are also important resources as these both provide society and the animals with places to live and plentiful food sources.
