What Is the Name of a State That Starts With the Letter E?

As of April 2015, there is no state or territory in the United States that starts with the letter “E.” There is one state that begins with the letter “D,” Delaware, and one that begins with the letter “F,” Florida. There are 50 states and nine territories that make up the country.

Nineteen letters can be found as the initial letters of at least one U.S. state. The most common first letters are “M” and “N,” which are the first letters of eight states each. Six letters are the beginning letters of only one state each: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana and Utah.
