What Is Mexico’s Motto?
The motto of the State of Mexico is inferred by the seal on the official coat of arms, which portrays the principles of liberty, work, culture and nation, according to the History Channel. It includes a border in Spanish with the words “Libertad Trabajo Cultura.”
The coat of arms is a shield surrounded by gold trim. The upper right corner of the seal is a depiction of the Battle of Cross Mountain in the war for independence. Two crosses rise above a green peak as a canon fires in front. The lower half of the shield displays an open book with a shovel, pick axe and machine sprocket emerging. Surrounding the book, golden rays of light shine on agricultural fields. In the upper left corner a pyramid represents the historic Aztec civilization.
