According to New Advent, the distance from the eastern border of Russia to its western border is roughly 6,666 miles, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk to the Black Sea. Russia’s area is one-sixth of the globe’s total land surface.
Because Russia touches eastern Europe and northern Asia, it is said to have a diverse culture. Most expert geographers tend to divide Russia in half to differentiate between the vast cultural differences. The natural boundary for this division is the Ural River. Although Russia has the largest land mass of any country on earth, its population is relatively small based on population density. The reason for this is that much of its land is uninhabitable, forcing most Russians to live in warmer climates.
