There are 50 countries and six dependent territories that make up the continent of Europe. Russia is easily the largest country in Europe, covering over forty percent of the total size. Russia is also the largest country in Europe in terms of population.
Vatican City is known as the smallest country in Europe. Europe is bordered by a number of large bodies of water including the Arctic Ocean to the continent’s north. The continent is also bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Europe is comprised of a number of different landforms including mountains, islands and valleys.
