How Many Continents Does the Equator Cross?

The Equator passes through three of the seven continents: South America, Africa and Asia. Although it does not pass through the mainland of Asia, it does run through Indonesia and the Maldives, which are part of the continent of Asia.
The Equator is the imaginary line that runs around the circumference of the Earth equidistant from the Poles. It marks 0 degrees latitude. Much of the Equator runs through the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The Equator also passes through 13 countries, including Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Maldives, Indonesia, Kiribati, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil.
