Prominent landforms in the Northeast region of the United States include the Appalachian Mountains and three smaller mountain chains. These mountain chains include the Adirondack Mountains, White Mountains and the Green Mountains.
In addition to the four mountain chains in the Northeast region of the U.S., other significant landforms include Niagara Falls, which is found in the northern part of New York. The Ohio River also runs through the Northeast. Smaller bodies of water, such as lakes and bays, are also found throughout this region.
Several states located in the Northeast have coastal landforms as they are located on the Atlantic Ocean. These landforms include coastal cliffs, sand dunes and beaches.
