Central Valley in California is a region that is commonly referred to as the Great Valley of California. This valley is a well-known structural depression in the world and covers 20,000 square miles. Central Valley is split up into two parts: Sacramento Valley in the north and San Joaquin Valley.
Central Valley covers 18 counties with approximately five million residents. This valley produces around 250 different crops, making approximately $17 billion every year. The most popular crops grown in Central Valley include grapes, whole grains, tomatoes, nuts and cotton. Central Valley is around 40 to 60 miles wide and is bounded by Sierra, Nevada, Coast Range, San Francisco Bay, Klamath Mountains and Tehachapi Mountains.
