What Cities in the United States Start With the Letter “H”?
Some cities in the United States beginning with the letter H include Houston, Helena, Hot Springs and Honolulu. Houston, once the capital of Texas is the fourth largest city in the United States. Its location on the Gulf of Mexico makes it an important port city.
Helena was the first major Anglo settlement in Montana. Just two years after the founding of the city, prospectors found gold 2 miles to the west. Helena survived the rise and fall of the Montana gold rush to become the capital of the state.
Hot Springs is the name of the city and national park in Arkansas. The city owes its existence to the natural hot springs that provided heated water for the resort bathhouses of that brought tourists to the area. Eight of these bathhouses remain as of 2015. It was also home to many illegal gambling casinos until 1967.
Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, is on the island of Oahu, a volcanic island. The state is a 1,500-mile chain of isolated islands in the Pacific Ocean. The United States entered World War 2 after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor while Hawaii was a territory and before Hawaii’s statehood. Honolulu is located over 2,300 miles from the continental United States.
