British actor Ben Chaplin, born in London in 1970, is not related to silent movie legend Charlie Chaplin. Ben Chaplin was born Benedict John Greenwood but used his mother’s maiden name when creating his stage persona.
Ben Chaplin is best known for his role in the 1996 comedy “The Truth About Cats and Dogs” starring Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo. He has also acted alongside Sandra Bullock in the 2002 thriller “Murder by Numbers” and with Claire Danes in the 2004 movie “Stage Beauty.” In 2004, Chaplin was nominated for a best actor Tony Award for his role in the stage play “The Retreat from Moscow.”
