In Canada, “zip codes” are known as “postal codes,” and as of 2014 there are 400 different codes for the city of Toronto. You can find a postal code for a specific address in Toronto on the Canada Post’s website.
The Canada postal code system differs in several ways from the U.S. zip code system, most notably in that the postal codes are alphanumeric. Toronto was one of the first Canadian cities to use numbered postal zones, adopting the system in 1925. Country-wide use of the current system began in 1971, and as of January 2014 there are 845,990 postal codes in Canada.
