Where Is Tokyo, Japan Located?

The absolute location of Tokyo, Japan is at the latitude of 35 degrees 41 minutes north, and longitude of 139 degrees 41 minutes east. Tokyo is situated around the central part of the Japanese archipelago, south of the Kanto district in Honshu, the main island of the country.

Tokyo shares a boundary with four administrative districts, namely Saitama Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Yamanashi Prefecture and Kanagawa Prefecture. Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama comprise the Tokyo Megalopolis Region, with an additional four other prefectures, Gunma, Yamanashi, Ibaraki and Tochigi constituting the National Capital Region. Tokyo remains the technological and commercial center in the Kanto region of Japan.
