The Dinka people are often cited as having the tallest average height among African tribes, as well as being the tallest people on average in the world. A study conducted in 1995 found that Dinka men and women had a mean height of 5 feet 9 inches.
Most Dinka people live in southern Sudan. They raise cattle and grow crops including millet and sorghum, splitting their time between permanent settlements and nomadic ones. Due to their height, some Dinka have become successful athletes and models. These include Manute Bol, who, at 7 feet 7 inches, was one of the tallest people to ever play for the NBA.
