The country of Greenland is part of the continent of North America, which also includes the United States and Canada. Greenland is a country that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and is the world’s largest island.

As of 2013, Greenland has a population of 57,000 people, with 89 percent indigenous Inuit people and 11 percent Europeans. It has an area of 836,109 square miles. Its official language is Greenlandic, but many also speak Danish. As of 2014, the ice caps covering the island have melted significantly, which has created rising sea levels in that area and an uncovering of previously hidden land.
