Most of Turkey is geographically located within the continent of Asia. However, the far western part of Turkey past the Bosphorus strait is situated within Europe.
Turkey is bordered by Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The masses of water that Turkey borders are the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea. The capital of Turkey is Ankara, and its largest city is Istanbul. Turkey comprises a total area of 302,535 square miles and has an estimated population of 79,814,871. Most of Turkey experiences a temperate climate with dry, hot summers and wet, mild winters.
