Spain, a country in southwestern Europe, consists of 195,364 square miles and has a population of approximately 47.27 million. Spain's territory includes the Balearic and Canary islands, Celuta and Melilla.
Spain shares many land borders with surrounding countries and territories, including a 754-mile land border with Portugal, a 387-mile border with France and a 39.5-mile border with Andorra. In total, Spain contains 1,917.8 miles of land boundaries and 3,084.6 miles of coastline. Spain is the 52nd largest country in the world and is 18,000 miles smaller than France and 31,000 square miles larger than California. The country's capital and largest city is Madrid, with a population of over 3 million.
