What Asian Country Does the Equator Pass Through?

The Equator passes through the Asian country of Indonesia. Indonesia is located in Southeastern Asia between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelago consisting of over 13,000 inhabited islands.

Indonesia comprises a total area of 735,358 square miles. The islands of Indonesia are located on both sides of the Equator. The largest islands are Java, Sumatra, Borneo, New Guinea and Sulawesi. The capital and largest city of Indonesia is Jakarta, and it is located on Java. As of 2014, Indonesia has a population estimated to be over 252 million people. Indonesia’s bordering countries include Timor-Leste, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.
