The absolute location of a place is its exact set of coordinates on the planet, frequently expressed in degrees of longitude and latitude. In geography, absolute location is contrasted with relative location.

The term “location” might appear to be interchangeable with “place;” however, location is generally seen as having greater precision than place. According to National Geographic, a relative location expresses where a place is in relation to other places. Both absolute locations and relative locations are distinct from localities, which are particular places that humans have settled.
