In the automotive world, XLT has no meaning as an acronym, though many have adopted the acronym “eXtra Luxury Truck.” Ford denies that this is the meaning of XLT.
XLT refers to a trim of Ford pickups that used to be the upgrade from the base-line XL models. The 2015 line of Ford F-150 pickups has nine basic packages, ranked here from cheapest to most expensive base price: XL, STX, XLT, FX2, Lariat, FX4, King Ranch, SVT Raptor, Platinum and Limited.
The XLT has an available 6.2L V8 engine that the XL model does not. Some features standard on the XLT that are not standard on the XL model are fog lamps, power side mirrors, a remote keyless entry system and automatic on-off headlamps.
