In the city of St. Paul, the state of New Jersey and other U.S. locations, if the intersection doesn’t have a traffic signal or a stop sign, a driver must park at least 20 feet away from the corner. If the intersection has either one, that distance is 30 feet.
In St. Paul, if there is a fire hydrant, a driver must ensure that there is at least 10 feet of space between the car and the hydrant. If there is a driveway, a car must be parked at least 5 feet away from the driveway. Similar ordinances are widespread in the U.S., as they allow drivers and pedestrians to see around corners while allowing other drivers to see any posted signs.
