Who Were Poseidon’s Children?

According to Greek mythology, Poseidon fathered Atlas, Triton, Rhode, Benthesicyme, Pegasus, Chrysaor, Areion, Polyphemus, Otos, Ephialtes, Neleus, Pelias, Nausithoos, Nauplios, Euadne, Orion, and according to some accounts, Theseus. The Greek gods often had a number of children sired from their many mates; sometimes they associated with their children and sometimes they didn’t.

Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea, and he was brother to the gods Zeus and Hades. Poseidon had many lovers of both genders, and fathered many heroes. One such mortal, a woman named Cleito, lived on an isolated island and birthed five sets of twin boys. Cleito named her first born Atlas. He and his brothers became the first rulers of Atlantis.
